I go to Fanime every year, and I love it every year! It’s a chance not only to attend this fun event, and it’s in my home town of San Jose! The people and the environment are so fun and friendly. The dealer’s hall is amazing, so many cute things to buy! I had to restrain myself quite a bit. I always love the Artists’ Alley, seeing original art and fan art, hand-made jewelry and clothing, all so unique!

As a photographer, idk what this is fromthere are so many pictures to take! From cosplay to steampunk, to oringal and unique fashions, Fanime has something new to see at every turn. I saw so many creative cosplays this year (as I do every year.) There were the usual suspects like Pokemon, Pyramid Head, Bleach, Link, Final Fantasy. Some of my favorites are Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop. There were creative and beautiful Disney Princesses, and variations of Super Mario Bros. There are always a smattering of Lady Gagas, Alex DeLarges, Jareths, Tank Girls, WoW, and other random characters and people that have any kind of fanbase – obscure or otherwise. New this year, I noticed a lot of Adventure Time cosplays and even a couple of Skyrim! (I fangirled over the Skyrim people, even chasing one down the hall just to get a picture.)

It’s an exhausting and fun weekend! One of these days, maybe I’ll become brave enough for karaoke!

This year marks my second attendance, and though I generally only come for one out of three days, I’m always delighted by the friendly environment, beautiful costumes, and overall experience. With the extensive amount of fun items to purchase in the dealers’ hall, the numerous panels and exhibits, and the several dances held at the end of the day, it’s hard to be bored at any moment. Though the busy day can become a bit tiring without access to a nearby hotel room for a moment of rest, I hope to attend for as many years in a row as is possible.
